I will show you some tips how to update firmware in Brother printers. You have to be sure that you have correct firmware file. If the headers are correct printer will flash no matter what do you send (i think so :). There is no checksum, only size control?
I will try to find how to enter service mode in this printer, the header should be a clue:
Flash file is the same that is downloaded by printer in web panel or with tool to upgrade on computer.
Flashing printer in network
Requirements:

Upgrade process:
- Download firmware and BRAadmin. Install BRAdmin.
- Connect your printer to network, turn it on. Do not send any printing,scan or other task.
- Rename .djf extension to .dat or .bin or any other. If you do not do that, BRAdmin won’t accept the file:
- Run BRAdmin. Right click on you printer and click Send file and choose .dat or .bin file:
- Wait for complete:
- Now on your printer LCD you should see
Firmware Upgrade
- Wait about 20 minutes to printer finish the process (copy,scan,fax LEDs will blinking)
Flashing printer at USB

Hello..i am trying to change my firmware from german to english..with this upgrade method..but when i do..it simply does firmware upgrade process like you described and then reboots in the german version..
i would be grateful for any ideas.

Hello.
Maybe you know a solution for the problem of my Mfc-l2700dw. Out of a sudden it did not start. If I plug the power cable, the 3 buttons Scan Copy Fax will light up immediately and stay on permanent, and the Display digits are all filled for 1s and then disappear and come back all filled and disappear and this as long as it is plugged in. Printer is unresponding to anything else.
Hopefully you may have a idea to solve the problem.

Hi… some further notice.
It is a firmware problem. But I am not able to flash it with usb. I have found a tool filedg32.exe and bhl2 boot loader drivers the printer don’t react to the firmware I downloaded from your link.
By pressing 5 and plug in power cord, printer goes into firmware upgrade mode. I installed bhl2 boot loader driver (XP 32) and printer is seen in filedg32 but no reaction to the firmware file.
Could you please try with your printer to do the “press 5 button and plug in power” procedure and try to flash the firmware? I am glad for any help.
